About
I am a counsellor and a Registered Social Worker with the Social Workers Registration Board and a member of Aotearoa NZ Association of Social Workers ANZASW.
I have worked across most areas of Specialist Mental Health and Older Persons Health -general medical and mental health. Most recently I worked in primary care mental health across 4 medical practices over 10 years and greatly enjoyed the diverse range of patients I was privileged to work with.
I am experienced in a range of modalities
· ACT – Acceptance and Commitment Therapy with a focus on grief and trauma,
· Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction
· Use a Strengths Based approach
· I have trained in the Meihana Model and Hui Process which places whanau as a key element for change using the metaphor of 5 cross bars of waka hourua ( double hulled canoe ) to connect the individual and their whanau as they navigate across the ocean towards health.
· I work with individuals aged 18 and up.
· I am ACC registered
I work with people struggling with anxiety and or mood related issues and with those facing age related issues of their own or of a partner or family member and with people living with a chronic health condition or experiencing grief/trauma and struggling with a life transition. I aim to create a safe welcoming space that encourages working collaboratively towards creating the change you want in your life.
