My name is Stacey, I am a registered social worker who is also experienced in trauma counselling.

I live in Selwyn with my husband and five children and work one day in central Christchurch and two days in central Rolleston.

I am Māori and NZ European in heritage and comfortable walking alongside my whaiora (clients) in both Te Ao Māori and Te Ao Pākeha (the Māori world and the Western world).  I believe that kaupapa Māori approaches are for anyone who would like to give them a go, and that a holistic view of wellbeing gives us a base to use our strengths to build up our not-yet-strengths.  However, I am more than happy to accommodate clients who wish to have a more typical western counselling experience.

I hold a bachelors degree in Social Work and additional postgraduate papers in Mātauranga Māori, Mental Health, and Addictions including training in CBT, DBT and ACT.  I had a current social work registration, am a member of ANZASW and APGANZ. I have worked within the child protection system, the prison system, alcohol and drug counselling, and in the community with young parents and their whānau.

In my journey through life I have met many amazing people who are unique in their own ways.  Trauma presents itself in many different ways and I believe that no one is too complex, too broken or too far gone. I love helping people to become a better version of themselves, whatever that looks like to them.

I am able to work through the sensitive claims service as both a social worker and a counsellor.  Please reach out if you’d like to have a kōrero and see if I could be the right counsellor for you, or if you’d like to know what social work support could look like.

Iti noa ana, he pito mata.
