About
My name is Nic and I am a North Canterbury based registered Counsellor splitting my time between working at the University of Canterbury and also in Private Practice.
I am a Pākehā woman (she/her) with a commitment to being an ally in the counselling space to our tāngata whenua as well as a safe space for any neuro-diverse or gender diverse clients.
My background is in Training and Early Childhood Teaching so am very comfortable counselling children as well as adults. Creating an authentic and warm relationship is one of my skills and also the base of where I practice from.
I have two older teenage girls and live in Swannanoa with my husband and a motley assortment of animals that we have collected over the time (and seem to keep collecting!). I love getting out on my bike when I can and spending time with the people who are important to me.
I predominantly practice using an Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) approach as well as Solution Focused, Internal Family Systems and Person Centred. My values are centred around humour, curiosity, empathy, connection and purpose.
