About
Kia ora, my name is Christine Wilkinson, and I am a Counsellor based in North Canterbury.
I have worked in areas of eating disorders and child and adolescent mental health as a Registered Nurse and Clinical Nurse Specialist. I trained into counselling in 2000, completing a Diploma in Counselling and a master’s in health science, endorsed in mental health. I have developed skills in working with trauma, anxiety, eating disorders, depression. My modalities include a range of therapeutic approaches that include EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing), DBT (Dialectical Behavioural Therapy) skills, ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), IDT (Interactive Drawing Therapy) and Equine Assisted therapy; completing training at the Equine Psychotherapy Institute in Australia. I love working in a nature based setting, integrating mindfulness and approaches inspired by the Te Ao Māori worldview.
I work across various client groups, including with children, young people, adults and families. I offer a person centred, individualised approach and value working collaboratively. I offer in person sessions in Rangiora and Sefton and appointments via telehealth.
